I'm aware not every women has been fortuitous enough to take karate, but I wish authors would include stronger women in their writing. Not a martial arts expert, but a girl who knows how to defend herself and doesn't rely on others to save her because in real life good guys aren't waiting around every corner to save girls in need.

I knew the story would have a happy ending, but I wasn't in the mood for one this time. It would have been stronger if Lon and Alec perished and Nell lived on independently because it was quite laughable how Nell and Alec fell into instant love. Remember Me was an entertaining read that would have been stronger with a few tweaks, especially if Nell hadn't been so dependent on Alec.

Remember Me had everything I need in a book — good storytelling, multifaceted characters, and twists and turns at every corner. Bobulski This review and many others can also be found at Musings of a Book Girl. Each of the had such strong voices that made telling them apart easy while still making them similar enough that switching between their chapters never felt jarring.

I also completely loved Alec and found all of the side characters to be a good addition to the story. The plot was intriguing and made getting through the book a breeze. Everything was woven together amazingly. I just wish the curse had been explained a little more. Some of it was more subtle with other parts being directly scary.

There were multiple times when I felt very unsettled and it was great. It will keep you awake at night and desperately turning pages until you get to the very last one. A finished copy was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Nell has moved around the past four years and now she finds herself in a historical mansion.

Soon after she settles in she starts to experience strange things happening. Nell definitely goes on a wild ride in this one. I enjoyed her character and watching her make connections between the past and the present. Alec is the mysterious boy who knows how to do any job the mansion needs done.

Alec has a secret and keeping it is the only way he believes will change things. I loved the atmosphere of the setting. It really lent to the creepy aspects of the book and you could really feel the tension. I listened to the audio book and the two narrators did a wonderful job!

It was a very well produced audio and I would definitely recommend it in that format. I'm a huge fan of these genres, so when I read the description I knew I had to read it. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but I'll admit that I had pretty high hopes. Luckily, the book turned out to be even better than I thought it would be. The author's use of vivid imagery and detailed descriptions brought both Nell and Lea's stories to life.

I was immediately hooked from the prologue and I didn't couldn't stop until I had devoured every last page. I wasn't expecting to feel so lost in the two timelines - especially not the past. Somehow, the author wove her magic and made me immediately fall inside Lea's world just as easily as Nell's. I felt like I was there with the characters as the story unfolded and went on every emotional roller coaster with them.

And trust me - between the mystery, the alternating time lines, and the romance - it's one heck of a ride. I don't normally enjoy when romance is an aspect of a different genre because it feels like it almost always takes over the main story line and gets in the way. That was not the case here. I loved every single minute, romantic or otherwise, and I definitely felt "all the feels," which is rare for me.

Another thing that really hooked me was the author's writing style. Not only did she bring these two characters and their lives to life before my eyes, but did so basically immediately from the beginning. One big factor for me was the author wrote the story in alternating perspectives between Nell and Lea. On top of this, the book is written in the first person point of view of both girls. I almost always prefer the first person POV because I feel like we can connect with the main characters on such a deeper level than any other style.

The author did alternating chapters from Nell's and Lea's perspective, which sealed the deal for me. I absolutely love that she chose this style for the book. I honestly believe that it made a huge difference and that I wouldn't have been as invested in the plot or characters if done in another writing style. Since it's done in the first person, I really got to know both Nell and Lea - their inner thoughts, hopes, dreams, fears, emotions, and everything in between.

I really can't emphasize enough what a huge impact this made on me and my reading experience - in the best of ways. I can't go into details about the plot because I don't do spoilers in my reviews, but I will say that it was full of mystery and intrigue, history and contemporary, horror and paranormal, fantasy and romance. It's a story that refuses to stick to one label and demands to be put on a level all its own. I very highly recommend this book to fans of YA, mystery, suspense, paranormal, fantasy, horror, historical fiction, and romance. Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Remember Me has been described as a cross between Titanic and The Shining; a forbidden love story between a rich, upper crust socialite and the help combined with a haunted hotel that exists to torment and kill its victims. Alternating chapters are narrated by Nell, who moves into the hotel in and Lea, a guest in I very much enjoyed reading about each of their experiences at the hotel and was invested in each character of this story. Although 3. Although the book was very gripping and I couldn't wait to find out what happened, I felt that, ultimately, the climax was disappointing.

The entire book built up to this one event, and it literally fast forwarded it! I wanted more! The author also never reveals why the characters were cursed. Why did this event cause the curse to happen?

  1. Remember Me.
  2. Enemies in Remember Me;
  3. Colchester United: From Conference to Championship (Desert Island Football Histories).

Was the hotel built on an ancient burial ground? Why was this never discussed!? Despite my disappointment in the climax, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. Remember Me was everything I wanted and more! This book hooked me from the first time I saw it, months before I read it.

I deeply cared about them and their fates. Exciting twists and turns lined the story! Not a page of the book bored me. The romance was so well made, as were each and every one of the side characters. Why Choose Remember Me?

Oh, and not for nothing, but the romance is totally swoon-worthy! Sep 14, Karen rated it liked it Shelves: ya-read-and-to-read. Okay, so I gave this book 3 stars. This is because I like Titanic. This book was Titanic mixed with a ghost story. I enjoyed that. But it was Titanic. Only, she's here to get married to a rich and boorish man. Her family is in dire straights the money is gone! The other POV is from modern-day Nell, a girl who's coming to live in the hotel because her dad works in hotels.

She meets fiery-eyed boy, can't understand why she is both drawn to him and he seems to hate her. Has psychiatric problems because her mom died tragically and although she tries to lose herself in ballet, it really just doesn't work. Okay, so the Nell storyline wasn't really Titanic but who names their daughter Nell anymore?? Poor little rich girl, fated to marry boorish, controlling, borderline abusive man she doesn't love so that her family can survive in their rich world. Literally, they even made reference to the whole "do you want to see me working as a seamstress?

Feels like she's suffering from the pressure of being forced to marry. Wants to run away with cute, poor boy with the floppy hair. He's so much smarter than he looks or his background warrants. If she doesn't go with him, Rose, that fire that he loves so much is going to burn out.

Oh wait, the Titanic still sinks, tragedy still awaits them. The Nell storyline was okay. I liked that portion of it tolerably well, though it seemed like the girl never slept. Her life would literally bleed from "I was afraid of nightmares so I didn't sleep, I practiced ballet" to "then I worked all day" to "I was so stressed out and wound up I couldn't sleep at all, so I went to practice ballet".

Girl, how had she not dropped of exhaustion?? And there were a few continuity errors and things that didn't quite make sense. Like, one character had Converse in one sentence and combat boots in the next. A basic editor should have been able to catch that.

Anyhow, I still enjoyed it, but again, mostly because I like Titanic. Would I recommend? Aug 07, Sarah-Jayne Briggs rated it liked it. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. This review may contain spoilers. Ideally, I'd give this book 3. When I read the blurb, I was hugely excited. That, along with the cover of the book, really grabbed my attention. Both Nell and Lea were well-written, well-rounded characters, although I did feel that Lea slipped a bit too much into the rebellious young woman stereotype. One thing I really struggled with was the switching viewpoints. This probably wouldn't have been such a problem had the chapters been longer, but some of the chapters were so short, I'd barely got my head around the time period I was in before I was thrust back into the modern day.

Or vice versa. I liked the other characters in the book, but I would have liked a bit more detail about what Alec was going through.

Remember Me | Quartet Records

I saw everything from Nell or Lea's point of view, but apart from a few vague hints, all I saw of the love interest was someone who was miserable most of the time. I did like that the stakes were quite high in the book. The premise and the characters were strong enough to keep me reading. You also have the option to opt-out of these cookies.
